An Italian Filmmaker Celebrates Fidel, Attacks Cuban Bloggers, From the Freedom of Italy

The freedom of speech in Italy is used as an alibi for the 'consacrazione' of ideological myths: 'La Revolucion' that took place in Cuba has become an anthem for those who make a living as neo-comunist idealists, that do not differ from the neo-fascists around. It is a shame to live everyday the lies born from prejudice that is harvesting inside those people who have been born in the free side of the Atlantic. People that live protected by the privilege of real Freedom and don"t hesitate to present themselves as legitimate spokesmen of a Free Latino America.

Yoani Sanchez responds Gianni Mina's attacks in the best italian manner: with a bit of irony reminds him that his interest is nothing else but economic, and the controversy he seeds leverages on the fact that she is more famous than he is (never heard of him before, not even in Italy).

Berlusconi Tris

When I was living in Colombia back in 2001, before even thinking about coming to Italy, I kept questioning myself about the future of Italian democracy after the second victory of Berlusconi (he had been Prime Minister in 1994). At the time he was owner of Mediaset (still is), the media empire, and with his election gained legitimate power over RAI, the State owned media group.

By 2006 for the first time in Italian republican history (until 1946 it was a monarchy) a government coalition completed a legislatura (5 year term for the parliament to govern) under Berlusconi's guide, surviving the tensions that could disintegrate it and provoke the immediate call for elections, due to the parliamentary system.

Months prior to the 2006 elections, he changed the voting system with a new legge elettorale nicknamed 'La Legge Porcata' that would make very difficult for any new coalition to obtain a true and painless political control in parliament. Nevertheless, the left-wing coalition won the political elections, but with a very small advantage. The 'Porcellum' was created.

The new left-oriented coalition guided by Romano Prodi was ruled by permanent contrast between progressive conservative ideologies and the more cold-war-rhetoric orientated communists. 'La Legge Porcata' was a complete success for Berlusconi's intentions, and the survival of Prodi's government was always in danger. But not only the Cavaliere's tactic helped the early downfall of Prodi: incoherence between what was promised during election period in 2006 and then never accomplished (establish a new political style that could culturally and economically modernize Italy while in the meantime the hard-gained welfare was to be reinforced in means of job stability for the most), demonstrated unskilled management of Napoli's junk problems and Alitalia's sale, disagreements with the Unions, the very unpopular indulto that pardoned assassins and thieves permitting them to exit prison before time, the attempt to block the famous Beppe Grillo's blog and therefore establishing censorship and control over the free and democratic diffusion of ideas over Italian internet, and most of all SO MANY TAXES!!! could be listed as the causes of the defeat.

The treacherous Matador for Prodi's coalition came from his own ranks, and two weeks ago early elections were won again by Berlusconi. Popular discontentment gave him an unopposed victory that is destined to be the total defeat of hard-left parties in Italy: not even one communist was elected in parliament.

It seems that for now the only one that has 'the touch' for handling power in a country where everybody wants to command is Il Cavaliere-Condottiere.

The Birth of...

There is a permanent question colombian people ask themselves:

When did the shit hit the fan in my country?

Followed by (once you have calmed a little):

At what point in Colombia's history did everything went wrong?

Because for the living colombians everything in our country's political and social dimension has been wrong since our birth.

Part of the answer is becoming tangible.

You can not point to a single cause for the complex situation in Colombia, but observing now-a-days events permits to understand how many strangers -individuals-corporations-countries- have gained power and money by means of nurturing colombian's internal conflict (read: a neighbour who thinks himself as Bolivar's re-incarnation, trying to get safe from internal political mess using the well known trick of the 'external threat').

Today some great news arrived.

An Israelian mercenary, Yair Klein, came to Colombia to make some 'business' back in the late 1980's (like many others around do today). This is the classic example of strategic delivery of knowledge: he taught colombian mafia how to kill in a professional way in exchange for money, using the excuse that guerrilla had to be destroyed. Nice business, nice efforts? No. His apprentices committed some of the most fate-turnaround murders in Colombia's modern history, like Luis Carlos Galan's assasination, for example; perpetrated murders in Magdalena Medio and developed the mafia private armies (Rodriguez Gacha, Pablo Escobar), as well as the paramilitary AUC.

Klein is going to be extradited from Russia to Colombia, we hope so.

Finally graduated... Universita di Bologna Laurea in Economia & Marketing UNIBO.

Comparing the studies completed in the Italian university with my previous Arts degree permitted me to understand and live the fundamental differences between John Henry Newman's and Wilhelm von Humboldt's idea of University.

The first, inspiration for the Anglo-Saxon model of education, conceives teachers and students as protagonists of a relationship defined by mutual dialog. Cooperative spirit and human contact sustains a process of mutual education, passed from generation to generation, that can even do without a systematic use of books.

Humboldt's model, known as the German model, succeded during the industrial revolution and rooted itself throughout continental Europe, conceiving the student as a passive subject, that can only 'pretend' to receive knowledge. With no cooperation nor participation in his/her own education, students await while teachers, 'holders of truth', transmit their knowledge from the top. In this case most of the time books become the only reference.

Un ringrazamiento molto speciale per Julia e Isabel.

After waiting for a very long time outside the stadium, the view of the stage was incredible, due to the gigantic video screen.

From a musician point of view (aside from the show-fame-OMG it's U2 I am looking at!) the experience reminds that the most incredible acts around are based on basic-hard to gain-years of work musicianship and stage performance.
The evening's lesson: COEXIST
